The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Program is the gold standard in the investment management industry. Earning CFA charter involves successfully passing three levels of exam conducted globally, completing 48 months of relevant work experience and becoming a regular member of the CFA institute.
The CFA Level 1 Exam is offered in June as well December every year. CFA Level II Exam and CFA Level III Exam are only offered in June. CFA exams are paper-based. You will need to have a passport in order to register for the exam. Students have to make payments to the CFA institute at the time of registration either through debit or credit card. Please note that CFA exam is only conducted in the English language. Also, the earliest you can only sit for CFA Level I exam is the final year of your degree program. You can't take CFA Level II exam unless you have received a Bachelor's degree. Students from all kinds of majors (Engineering, Arts, Commerce, IT) can sit for the CFA exam.
There is no limit to number of times you can take the CFA Exam. There is also no negative marking in any of the exams. Approximately 1 in 3 students (33%) pass the CFA Level 1 exam. Pass percentage is slightly higher for CFA Level II Exam and CFA Level III Exam.
Fastest way to clear all three exams is to pass Level 1 exam in December attempt, followed by Level II exam in June next year and Level III exam the year in a total span of one-and-half years. The student doesn't need to pass all three levels to be eligible for a job in the financial industry.
